SOV2 and XREI_EVIX

A final gift for the holidays - the last updated aphasein releases from the archives: Selected Oddities Vol. 2 and XREI_EVIX. This pair of two-track singles feature odds and ends unlike other tracks of their time periods, and are a fun wrap-up to all the archive material.

With all our recent outpouring of aphasein material now released here and on most streaming services, and the best of our archives/solo material updated/re-packaged, it’s time for another hiatus (our fifth one since 2007?) until a new wave of fresh tracks breaks the horizon. Thanks for checking us out, and as always, enjoy.

Selected Oddities Vol. 2

by aphasein / Listen / Download /

Two-track dance single of extremely early hits, created in OctaMED on the Amiga600 in summer 1997. A throwback even then to late 80's/very early 90's breakbeat/hardcore chunes that have never quite fit with the rest of the discography (hence the release name, which also references our early demo CD names and most obviously Aphex Twin). Bombastic and steppin'.

XREI_EVIX

by aphasein / Listen / Download /

Two-track companion single that’s all about companionship. The two tracks were recorded live in one take, jamming together on the MicroKorg and MiniNova in November 2014 after an Xrei solo session, and at that point were the only new material from aphasein in many years. Fits its creators quite well: energetic/melodic and subdued/dirgey in turn, and fairly crunchy overall.
